Sun Aversion.

While many young women in America flock to sunny yards and beaches in the summer, and coffin-like tanning beds in the winter, the young women of Japan and Korea are busy doing their upmost to avoid electromagnetic radiation in its sun tanning wavelengths. Many of the female teachers will wear windbreakers and large brimmed hats in the oppressive, humid heat of the summer to avoid darkening their arms. Perhaps the strangest form of this sun aversion is the common practice among Japanese women to wear long white gloves which reach up to their elbows when they drive.
